Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these Terms

By creating an account or using SpeakVietnam (the "Service") on the web or in our mobile apps, you agree to these Terms of Service (the "Terms") and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

The Service is operated by SpeakVietnam, Trung Kinh St, Yen Hoa, Hanoi, Vietnam. Contact: hello@speakvietnam.com.

2. The Service

SpeakVietnam helps you learn Northern (Hà Nội) Vietnamese through real-life dialogue lessons, vocabulary practice and AI-assisted pronunciation feedback. AI feedback is an automated learning aid: it can be imperfect and is not a formal assessment of your language ability.

3. Price

The Service is currently free of charge. We do not sell subscriptions, process payments or show advertising. If we introduce paid features we will announce them in advance and ask you to accept updated terms before anything is charged; features you already use for free will not start costing money without that notice and your agreement.

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or use the Service. By using the Service you confirm that you are 16 or older. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 16, we will delete it.

5. Your Account

• You sign in with Google or Apple. Keep access to that account secure — you are responsible for activity under your SpeakVietnam account.
• Provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
• One account per person; accounts may not be shared or transferred.
• You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete account (see account deletion).

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• use the Service for any unlawful purpose;
• scrape, copy in bulk, reverse-engineer or automate access to the Service or its content;
• circumvent rate limits, security or access controls;
• upload malware, spam, or abusive, unlawful or infringing content (including in support messages or speaking exercises);
• impersonate SpeakVietnam or anyone else;
• interfere with or disrupt the Service or other learners.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

7. Intellectual Property

Lesson text, audio, images and software in the Service are owned by or licensed to SpeakVietnam. You may use them for your personal, non-commercial learning only, and may not reproduce, distribute or create derivative works from them without our written permission.

You keep ownership of what you submit (for example your spoken answers and written replies). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process it only to provide the Service to you — for example, sending a voice recording to our AI provider to transcribe and score it, as described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Availability and Changes to the Service

We work to keep the Service available but do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may add, change or remove lessons and features, or discontinue the Service; where a change significantly affects you we will try to give reasonable notice.

9. Disclaimers

To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee any particular learning outcome.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SpeakVietnam is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of a free service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Vietnamese law, including your rights as a consumer and as a data subject.

11. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. We will first try to resolve any dispute with you in good faith by contacting hello@speakvietnam.com; if that fails, the dispute will be decided by the competent court in Hà Nội, Vietnam.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. For material changes we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect and, where the law requires it, ask you to accept the updated Terms again. The date at the top shows the current version.
